Scams target everyone so it's important to remain alert and aware of the different type of scams targeting Australians —particularly as scammers become more creative and nefarious in their attempts to steal money or personal information.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)'s Scamwatch is an Australian Government initiative that helps consumers and small businesses to recognise, avoid and report scams. You and your community members are encouraged to visit the Scamwatch website, which provides a range of resources to help better protect you and your community from scammers.

The Department of Health and Ageing has also notified us of a scam targeting the Chinese-Australian community. Please note that any calls from 02 6289 1555 are a scam. It's not the Department of Health & Aged Care. If you get a suspicious call or text message, there are steps you can take to protect yourself.
